LEGEND IN LIMBO: IVERSON PONDERS RETIREMENT WHILE OTHERS URGE THE ANSWER TO STAY




Allen Iverson

is the basketball player who helped define a generation of players in this country & the world over.Thousands of players with their own visions of hoop glory, and even a few weekend warriors emulated everything he did....The flair, the cross over, the attitude & yes the infamous corn-rows




were all made more acceptable....no .... MORE PROFITABLE......



having a player that prolific act the way he did,dress the way he dressed who played the way he played; not only solidified the relationship between the NBA & Hip-Hop, but with the entire global hoops nation.Selected with the first pick of the draft class considered by many the very best of all time with other players who were all stars , MVP's { Steve Nash}; some even now NBA champions { Kobe, Ray Allen,Ben Wallace}; it's arguable he was better than all of them & is still even today.

A career average of 27 ppg makes him 5th all time on the scorers list so it's safe to say he could put in in the hole, what serperated Iverson was the absolute love for the game that beamed from him aura every time the ball was in his hands with seconds to go and the game in his hands. Allen wasn't afraid of the big shot that huge moment were 4 seconds can seem like forever & most ordinary players freeze under pressure....Players like allen not only face the challange.....




...... they crave it! It is in those small moment that seem like forever where legends are made, and it's how you react in those situations over time how legends are solidified{ i.e: we luv that dude cause he beat every player any time any place any where and put philly on his back ;-p}.

Very few players are good enough to have rules put in so it's fair for the rest of the leauge : zone defenses & new carry rules were implemented to "slow" down speedy guards with "unique" ball-handling abilities shortly after the infamous Cross over that "Shook {pun intended ;-p} the world".



So as Iverson ponders his future...

...and decides if it's worth it to continue to play through injury after, injury, after injury while cynical critics judge his hearty effort mental toughness and character I say lets take 5 mins to reflect on the person who didn't like to practice { "Im supposed to be the franchise player and we here talkin' about practice" - Classic lines bro } , and examine his whole body of work. I am sure this Hall of Famer can change your perception of him from thug of the league to the humble warrior being forced to take a lesser role by league thugs {aka GM's} , as quickly as he speeds up court for cross over on defenders who sometimes look like they should be watching from home like me ;-p...
